Fancy Purse

This is a really easy little 'mini purse' that I taught recently and a workshop and Fancy Folds Class.

It's made fron a 6x6 piece of DSP. At the front the embellishment is punched out using the Boho Blossoms Punch, then the purse is fastened at the back with a Jumbo Brad and cute bow.

It's great filled with a few Hershies Kisses!

Diamond Fold Card

This is a great Fancy Fold Card that we made in a recent class. It springs up and folds out flat. You can decorate the diamond on top in any way you like - I stamped images from 'Party Hearty' and punched them out.

Scrapbooking Class

This is a 12x12 latout I taught recently in a scrapbooking class. The weaving was really easy and lots of fun to do.

I coloured a paper flower using classic ink pads and sponge dawbers, then added some pearls to embellish the centre.

A Crafty Weekend

It's been a busy weekend manning our Stampin' Up! stall at Dunkley's Carft Show, but it was a great weekend and was good to see so many new faces. Hopefully I'll see you again at a class or workshop soon....

This is a project I designed recently for a workshop, and we also made it in a Quick Cards Class. It's a lovely card but also simple to make - using the 'Flower Fancy' Set with Two Step Stamping it's easy to add colour to your stamped images.

How do you make easter cards without an easter stamp set?

You dig out your Loads Of Love set! This is a card we made at a workshop I held as a fundraiser for a local playcentre. I wanted to use colours that would be fine for both boys and girls so I chose Perfect Plum, Marina Mist and Certainly Celery.

Here are a couple of cute little easter cards. They are really quick to make and you can use any foil wrapped shape as long as it has a flat back - I used santas last christmas.

I love making bag toppers at this time of year - they are a perfect way to liven up some mini Easter Eggs and it makes a great gift.I used Easter Egg stamp from Loads Of Love Accessories, and the greeting from Teeny Tiny Sentiments.

I also used my new Buttons Embosslet from the new Autumn-Winter Catalogue to make some co-ordinating buttons. A added Crystal Effects to make them glossy. What a great wat to make your own buttons to co-ordinate with any project.

Clean & Simple

For this clean, simple card I used my 'Sail Away' stamp again with Marina Mist on Whisper White cardstock.

It's difficult to see in the photo, but the image is framed top and botton with score lines. The taffeta ribbon and greeting from 'Stem Shillouettes' finishes it off.

With all the Easter goodies in the shops you can't help but notice that Easter in on the way. I don't have an Easter stamp set so I decided to use my punches to create this cute little chick. I've used him on a card and also on a little treat box (see below).

I've also used my new 'Framed Tulips' Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, which has just been released in the new mini catalogue. The effect can be quite subtle, but it really pops up when you sponge ink as I have done for the grass.

Eat Chocolate!

When I saw the new 'Eat Chocolate' set in the new Autumn-Winter mini catalogue I just couldn't resist it - right up my street! I make lots of little gift boxes and most of them end up with chocolate in them, so this set will get lots of use.

This chocolate pouch is my first project with the set. Admittedly the photo would have looked more effective if I had put a bar of chocolate in the pouch but chocolate doesn't last long in my house, so you'll have to use your imagination!

I inked up the stamp using Wild Wasabi and Real Red markers and it fits perfectly in the scallop oval punch.

I used 'So Happy For You' to add the sentiments to this card. It fits inside the HodgePodge Hardware perfectly (with a bit of trickery!) I love 'So Happy For You' as the font size is just right - not too big, not too small - and the font style is great for any occasion.

For this card I embossed velum and adhered it to coloured cardstgock - I think this gives the flowers a lovely translucent finish and the Hodgepodge Hardware adds a little finishing touch.

Colour Confidence

This is a colour combination I would normally never have been brave enough to choose - Riding Hood Red, Pumpkin Pie and Basic Grey - but it actually works!

Here's my secret.... I finally brought the Stampin' Up! Colour Coach and it's GREAT! It's been on my wishlist for ages and now I have it I don't know why I waited so long!

It's a bit like the colour charts you get from Dulux & Resene. There's a full size card for every colour (including In Colours) that you can use to compare colours, which is great. However, even better than that, on the back of each card there are 2 sets of colour suggestions. There are also some handy tips at the beginning of the pack to help you along the way.

I've used several on these suggestions now and they look great - a really good way to step out of your comfort zone with the knowledge that your card will still look great!

Below is a card I made recently using a technique from my latest Techniques Class.It's a quick 'direct to paper' technique that you can have some fun playing with and create some great effects for backgrounds.

There are currently spaces available in my Techniques Class. I teach 3 techniques, with instructions and a sample to keep. We then make a card using 2-3 of the techniques you have learned so you can see the ideas 'in action'

We made this card in a recent class using 'Punch Bunch' from the Sale-A-Bration brochure - each stamp in the set co-ordinates with a Stampin' Up! punch.

For this card I used the scallop square stamp and punch. I actually cased the idea from Shelli's blog. It's a really versatile design as it's great for male or female cards - just change the colours to suit.

The central strip has been crimped to add some texture and we used the 'Rock & Roll' technique to add both shades of blue around the edges of the scallop square.

Here's another version of the card I made using different colours. This one is destined for my cousin who is turning 18, so I added the numbers using my Big Shot and Simple Numbers Die.

Here's yet another brayered card. This time I embossed the daisies from Upsy Daisy using Concord Crush ink and clear embossing powder. I then brayered opposit corners with green and blue. I layered the image onto Concord Crush, Whisper White and Pear Pizzazz cardstock.

Double the Treats

Yum... there's nothing better that a treat box that already contains treats!

I made this box using a Sweet Treats Cup, with a sliding door on the inside so you can enjoy the treats without destroying the box.

I used the Medallion stamp and Cute & Curly set and Elegant Soiree Designer Series Paper, all finished off with layers of punches and some Hodgepodge Hardware.

We made this card quite a while ago in a Quick Cards Class, but have only just got around to blogging it.

This was a really quick but cute card. I've used my 'Choo Choo' set and 'Right On Track' Wheel. I've used these on several cards but also have a great 12x12 layout in my head, so look out for it!

Digger Crazy

This is a brithday card I made for a little boy who is digger crazy. As I didn't have an appropriate stamp set I printed the image onto Whisper White cardstock from my computer.

I also used my new Simple Numbers Die with my Big Shot and the 'Rough Type' Alphabet from the current Mini Catalogue.

Colours are Real Red, Basic Gray and Whisper White.

Here's another example of brayering. This is a card we made in one of my Techniques classes recently.

I used 'Lovely as a Tree', which has turned out to be such a flexible set.

I layeder the main image onto Concord Crush cardstock and then onto Whisper White, which I embellished using my Scallop Trim Edge and Scallop Trim Corner Punch.

My brayer has been getting a good workout lately. This is an idea I had after I taught brayering in one of my techniques classes.

I brayered the sky and sea, then sponged the sun. I used Basic Black to stamp the leaves and bird using my Vintage Vogue and Silhouette Sentiments stamp sets. The greeting comes from Teeny Tiny Sentiments and I also used my scallop trim border punch.

Rough Type Goes Bright

I loved the Rough Type Alphabet as soon as I saw it in the Summer Mini Catalogue. At first glance I though it would be really great for scrapbooking and vintage projects, but it's so versatile that it works really well with bright and contemporary projects too!

It's also really easy to use this set as you don't need to worry about getting all the letters perfectly straight. It comes with the circle stamp that I used for 'happy', but if you have the clear mount set you can also line all the letters up on one block and stamp a whole word in one go as I did with 'birthday'.

Vintage Swing

Here's the Swing Card (also known as a flip flop card) that we made in the January Fancy Folds Class.

As you open the card the middle section swings around as you can see in the second photo.

For this card I decided to play around with a more vintage style than usual so I chose 'Sense of Time', which is a perfect set for this style. We also used the spritzer tool (main catalogue) and some smooch spritz (Summer Mini catalogue). To finish it off there's lots of sponging and a crumpled, layered 5-Petal Flower using cardstock and velum.

Humm, I quite liked the finished result - I might go vintage more often!

Valentine Treats

What could be better than receiving this cute little card from your Valentine?

Opening it up and finding chocolate inside of course!

We made this treat holder in one of my recent Fancy Folds Classes using the 'Love Defined' Stamp Set from the current mini catalogue. It's the perfect size for a Whitrakre's Square - YUM!

I punched out this little heart using my Owl Punch and then used a layer of Crystal Effects to give it a bit of extra gloss.

Punch, Punch, Punch!

This is a simple but effective card that doesn't involve a whole lot of stamping but lots of punching! Luckily the new style punches are a breeze to use. For this card you will need the Owl Punch to punch these perfect circles and hearts.

We made this card in a recent class for Valentngines Day, but I originally made it as an anniversary card using my Teeny Tiny Sentiments set to stamp the greeting. I have also since used the same idea to make an engagement card.

As you can see from the close up shot below I'm still addicted to those Pearls, but this one also looks great with a bit of *BLING* so add a Rhinestone if you want!

Sale-A-Bration

I love the samples in this year's Sale-A-Bration so much that I decided to case some of them! Here's one using the 'Sweet Summer' Set.

It's a real stunned when you look closely and see that the bee is coated in Crystal Effects and that the centre of each flower has a tiny pearl. I love the Stampin' Up! Jewels (available in Basic Pearls and Basic Rhinestones on page 140 of the current Catalogue) and I have no idea what I did without them!

I used Old Olive, Baja Breeze and Whisper White for this card. I stamped my images using Basic Grey for a softer look and coloured them using a Blender Pen and ink from my Classic Ink Pads. I also used my Mat Pack and White Gel Pen to add some faux stitching around the edges.

Valentine Inspiration

As Valentine's Day is approaching fast I thought I would post some projects to inspire you and spur you into action!!

For this card I used my 'Love Defined' Set which is in the current Mini Catalogue. I usually don't use what I call the 'lovey dovey' sets much but this set is fantastic - perfect for wedding cards, engagements, and anniversaries as well as for valentines day. It's also perfect for occasions when you just need a 'thinking of you' card or even for Mothers Day. Look out for more of my posts using this set!

Reuse-Recycle

I've been doing my best to re-use all my 'baby containers' lately. Baby food jars have become tealight holders, baby food tins have been re-covered and stuffed with Hershies Kisses, and Formula Tins (the ones that don't make as storage tins in Matt's shed) get re-covered and filled with baking.

This tin is covered with Jolly Holiday Designer Series Paper. I have also decorated it using my Scallop Trim Border & Corner Punches. I've also sponged a frame and used Gold embossing powder to make it a little more 'Christmassy' .

Here is another of this year's christmas cards - this time from my Techniques class, where we covered how to use the embossing folders with the Big Shot, but leave a smooth section in the middle.

For this card I used the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder and Vintage Vogue set, which looks quite festive when teamed up with Pear Pizzazz and Real Red. I finished it off with a greeting from Teeny Tiny Sentiments.

Christmas Embossing

This is a technique we recently covered during my Techniques class - we used the Big Shot and ran the Whisper White cardstock through the 'Vintage Wallpaper' embossing folder, then heat embossed it using silver embossing powder.

I made up this card as an example of how this technique can be used on a project. I'm pretty happy with the result so will probably give this card away nearer chirstmas.... I've also added it to the 'Just Add Ink' challange this week.

Here's another Christmas card we made at a recent Quick Cards class. Over the last few classes I've been playing around and using stamp sets that are not necessarily Christmas sets to make Christmas cards (see pervious post using Lovely As A Tree).

For this card I used me 'So Swirly' Jumbo Wheel, the flower image from 'Priceless' and the greeting from 'Seasons of Joy'.

I also used the Scallop Oval and Large Oval punches, with a little bit of Dazzling Diamonds glitter to top it all off. Colours are Always Artichoke and Ridinghood Red.

These are cute little cards that I made last year for the kids I work with, but they are suitable for anyone young at heart! They are quick and simple to make - you just have to make sure all the Santas end up in the cards, not your tummy!

I used: Seasons of Joy, Real Red Ink, StazOn White Ink, Real Red, Old Olive and Whisper White Cardstock, Scallop Circle punch, 1 3/8" Circle Punch.

This layout uses the 'Loads of Love' stamp set - one of the first sets I ever purchased and I still love it. It's great for male cards and even christmas cards (we'll be doing that in a quick cards class so I'll post an example of one soon...) but as you can see, it also looks great on a 12x12 layout!.

I have had this stamp set - 'Lovely as a Tree' -on my wishlist for a long time. I finally bought it a couple of months ago and love it - there are just so many uses for it - so I'm really pleased that it's still in the new catalogue.

I loved the 'Choo Choo' stamp set ($36.95, Pg 62) and 'Right on Track' wheel ($14.50, Pg 62) when it was first released earlier in the year. I'm so pleased it made it back into the new 2010-2011 Idea Book & Catalogue!

For this card I also used 'Trendy Trees' ($38.95, Pg 68).

It makes a great kids card.

Been busy!

I know it's not uncommon for me to leave it too long between updates, but this time I have a good reason - Abby arrived last week and has been keeping me very busy since then!

This photo was taken at 1 day old but she is now a week old.

She made a appearance after a long labour but weighed in at a very healthy 9lb2 (4.1kg)

These are the announcement cards I've been making. Luckily I had most of the work done ahead of time - hopefully I can find time to finish them off soon!!

I've used Almost Amethyst, Lovely Lilac and Whisper White. I also used my Priceless stamp set and Whimsical Words for the insert.

For the next few months I will be including a 'male-inspired' card in my Quick Cards classes. Hopefully this will give you some ideas and a stock of 'male' cards for your collection.

This card uses the Curly Label Punch Bundle (inc. punch and stamp set - see below). The colours are Basic Grey, Brocade Blue and Night Of Navy. I've also used co-ordinating ribbon, brads and the crimper to embellish.

Manhattan Embossing

These three little bags are made using paper lunch bags and are great for just about any gift! I decorated them using the new Manhattan Flower embossing folder with my Big Shot.

I wondered how many different looks I could achieve, so I had a little play around. For the pink bag I used sponges to gradually ink up the reverse of the embossed image, leaving ink on the raised petals.

The embossing folders are great value at just $18.95 - they are a good size too, with each folder measuring 11.4cm x 14.6cm

I've been meaning to post this photo for a long time, but it's been sitting on my camera's memory card for a while.

What a cute idea for a baby shower - this 'nappy cake' was made by Julia Leece - a very creative SU! Demonstrator in our team.

Mothers Day

This is a great project for Mothers Day. I have used this Flower Pot on scrapbook pages in the past (see previous posts), but this mini version of the Flower Pot is also great for cards.

It has a pull-up section so you can add a message / greeting (see below).

I used my "One of a Kind' Stamp set and Boho Blossome Punch to punch out the flowers. I also used the 5 Petal Flower punch to make some leaves.

Cardstock is Chocolate Chip, Riding Hood Red, Pink Pirouette and Certainly Celery. The DSP is Candy Lane.

Ok, it's been quite a while since I blogged, and this card has been waiting to be posted here for quite some time! Here it is - Vintage Vogue again but still my favourite set. I used Always Artichoke and Rich Razzleberry, which matched beautifully with the Cottage Garden DSP I used.

This is a great way to embellish your cards and use up those scraps of DPS - the 2-Way glue pen is an ideal adhesive for these small pieces - no mess!

Egg-ceptional Easter Gifts

I made these little Easter Egg Bag Toppers last year for the ladies at work - they were all very happy with them so I thought I'd share them with you for this year.

You will need:

Chocolate Chip, Whisper White & So Saffron Cardstock (pg. 128)

Small Cellophane Bags (pg.130)

Tag Punch and Small Tag Punch (pg.152)

Greetings Eight Stamp Set (pg. 57)

Basic Black Ink (pg. 127)Stampin' Pastels (pg. 127)

Blender Pens (pg. 156)

Always Artichoke 1/4" Grossrain Ribbon (pg. 151)

Fold a square of chocolate chip cardstock in half and attach to the top of the bag of eggs.

Wrap Always Artichoke Ribbon around the card, securing it at the front.
Stamp the Bunny image onto Whisper White cardstock and layer it onto So Saffron Cardstock - use the Tag punches to punch them out adn layer them together.
Attach to the bag topper covering the join of the ribbon. Colour the image using a Blender Pen with Pastels.
Add a button to embellish and stamp a greeting using White Stazon if desired.

Zoo Slider

I love these slider cards. They are actually surprisingly easy to make and are great for any occasion.

For this one I used my "Wild About You" set, with lovely bold colours - Kiwi Kiss, Baja Breeze, Pumpkin Pie & So Saffron, but I've also recently made one using the Level 1 Hostess Set "Live Like You Mean It" - I'll post that one another day....

Memory Box

This is a project we made in one of my fancy folds classes a couple of months ago. I started with a 12x12 sheet of cardstock (plus a little extra for the lid and for layering).

I love the way this can be displayed as a 12x12 layout in my album, or as a photo box on my bookshelf. It also has plenty of space for journaling or more photos.

I also used my 'All In The Family' and 'Circle Circus' stamp set which work perfectly for this project.

Love Is In The Air

I couldn't resist taking a quick snap of these 'rose buds' as I think they look great as a bunch. I held two stamping classes on Sunday so each of my customers has a little 'rose bud' gift. I hope everyone managed to get past the packaging as there's a Hershies Kiss inside!

New Ideas for Hodgepodge Hardware

In the days before Stampin' Up! (and a number of other hobbies...) I used to make and sell jewellery, so when I saw this idea I couldn't resist!

It just so happens that last month I finally brought Hodgepodge Hardware, which had been on my 'wishlist' for months, so I had everything I needed...

You will need:

RubOns, Crystal Effects, 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon, Hodgepodge Hardware, Cardstock scraps and Craft & Rubber Scissors (or similar to trim the metal tags)

What to do:

Cut scraps of cardstock to fit inside your chosen Hodgepodge Tag (I cut two as mine is double sided)
Embellish the scraps with your chosen RubOns.
Carefully adhere cardstock to the Hodgepodge Tag using Crystal Effects (Use 2 tags if you are making a double sided pendent like mine). Allow to dry.
Trim one end off the tag using Craft & Rubber Scissors
If yours is double sided, adhere the 2 tags back to back using Crystal Effects
Once dry, apply a layer of Crystal Effects to the surface on each side to protect your images and make them nice and glossy. Allow several hours to dry.
Thread ribbon through the hole and secure using the buckle from Hodgepodge Hardware set.

I think this would make a great pendent for a necklace, but am planning to give this one away as a bookmark.

Hide & Seek Journaling

This is a layout that has been filed away in my scrapbook for a while...

I used a few tricks and techniques here, but the main aim of this page was to hide my journaling inside a little mini flower pot.

I've also used this flowerpot on a card front, which makes a great quick card, which we will be making in my next Quick Cards class on the 14th February.

This is a great quick card from my last Quick Cards class. It's very easy to put together using a Large Metal Edge Tag (see page 151 of your catalogue). I used the new 1 3/4" circle punch to punch out some DSP which fits inside the tag perfectly.

Using the 'Wagon Full of Fun' Set from the new Mini Catalogue you can make a card for just about any occasion.

I used watercolour pencils and blender pens to colour this card but you could use watercolour crayons or markers to colour the images too (check out page 127 of your catalogue for the options).

These Sweet Treat Cups are perfect for many things but I think these mini M&M's are my favourite.

This is the card we made at my Fancy Folds class last night, and I think it was pretty popular...

I have a new favourite technique - watercolouring! And lucky me - the new "Wagon Full of Fun" set is just perfect for watercolouring. I've even ordered some new Watercolour Crayons so can't wait for the the courier to arrive...

I also had great fun with this Tri-Fold Shutter card. We made it in one of my classes just before Christmas but I've already given this one away, so will have to do another one. Although I love this Urban Garden DSP, I might go with Candy Lane DSP for the next one as I think it would look great in pink.

Making Memories

We recently made this accordion mini-album in one of my classes. I love the way this opens up with its accordion hinges. I decided to try out a Simply Scrapping Kit, which I've never used before but now I LOVE!! I chose 'Sweet Nothings' as I love these colours - Riding Hood Red, Pink Pirouette, Chocolate Chip and Kiwi Kiss.

I will definately be investing in another one of these kits as it was really good value - I could have made at least three of these albums from one kit!

The front cover of album was inspired by one made by Jacque, my upline, and the pattern for the ablum itself was passed on to me by Louisa, who is part of our Creative Inkers team.

Make a Film Strip

I made this card a while back for a child's brithday. I used my 'Wild About You' set, which I love as it's turned out to be really flexible for all sorts of projects.

I also used the Spiral Punch to create a film strip look on the basic black cardstock. This punch has been very well used - it's designed to fit the spirals of a note book so you can beautifully personalise the cover of your notebook, diary, etc... but I've used the Spiral Punch to add texture and details to all sorts of cards and scrapbook pages - it's a great way to make your journelling spot look like a page torn from your notebook.

If you'd like to re-create this here's how:

Base Card: Basic Black

Layering: Sage Shaddow

Film Strip: Basic Black with Spiral Punch

Images: Whisper White with 1 3/8" Square Punch

Ink: Sage Shaddow, Perfect Plum, So Saffron

Fathers Day Card Recipe

I made this card for Fathers Day. It was inspired by a swap I received at a recent training day and has an acetate portion, with the "Happy Fathers Day" message behind it, on the inside of the card.
As I didn't have a fathers day stamp, I printed "Fathers Day" on whisper white cardstock then added the "Happy" image from the "Happy Everything" Stamp Set.

I actually used retired cardstock colours but this card would look great in the following colours:
Cardstock: Baja Breeze, Not Quite Navy, Whisper White
Ink: Baja Breeze, Not Quite Navy
Stamp Sets: Seeing Spots, Happy Everything, Cheers To You
Other: Acetate, 1 1/4" Circle Punch, 1 3/8" Circle Punch

Welcome to the new Classroom

I've finally got the classroom set up! It's something I've been planning for several months but the space has been used for other things.... When we moved into the house this garage had been converted into a hair dressing salon (which explains all the mirrors!), but since then it's been used as a sleep-out, to store firewood and to store a friend's furniture while they moved house.

It's had a bit of a 'do-up' over that last few weeks and the space is working really well as a classroom for all my Stampin' Up! Classes. I'm also planning to use for Workshops as it can be easier for Hostesses to have their guests come here. As always, there are a few more things I'd like to do in here, but I'll get there bit by bit....

Mystery Hostess Workshop

I held my first 'Mystery Hostess Workshop' at my place last night, which was fantastic - thanks everyone for coming! We drew the name of the 'Mystery Hostess' at the end of the night and she was able to order a Level 1 Hostess Set and $55 worth of products - congratulations!

Cute Upsy Daisy

I just LOVE this Stamp Set - as soon as I saw 'Upsy Daisy' I knew that I had to have it, and at just $39.95 for the set it didn't take too long to save up. We made this card in a recently Quick Cards Class with just ink, cardstock and a little Whisper White Grossgrain Ribbon, so it's super easy to make. I used Whisper White, Pale Plum and Perfect Plum ink & cardstock as well as the ribbon. I inked the whole stamp with Pale Plum then used a sponge dawber to add a little Perferct Plum to some of the petals. I also used Perfect Plum along the bottom of the card and for the greeting, to achieve a 'watermark' type effect. I hope this inspires you to get this set out of your stash - it's great for so many techniques. If you don't have it yet and would like to order it contact me today!

Quick & Easy

This is a great Quick Card that doesn't require too many tools! However, it also looks great blinged up with a bit of ribbon, glitter or rinestone brads.

I used the Cupcakes wheel and the Happy Everything stamp set. I love Kiwi Kiss and Always Artichoke together & think this could pass as a male card too.

More Circle Circus

This is the folding 12x12 layout we made as one of our Make & Takes at convention in May. I used Circul Circus to add detail to the Baja Breeze cardstock, as well as to embelish the two metal edge tags, which I've now decided are on the 'must have' wish list! Emily's dress matches these stamps perfeclty - this layout really suits a retro style. I've also invested in the Trio Flower Punch since we made this page as it looks great with these stamps and also matches a couple of other sets I have.

I don't have any photos of this project all folded up, but I'm planning to make a similar one soon so I'll post better photos then...

Gorgeous Gifts

I love this acetate box - it's great for holding anything from chocolates to baby clothes and looks really professional. I've used Circle Circus for the gift tag... Stamp with Riding Hood Red Ink on Red Riding Hood Red Cardstock and punch with Scallop Circle. Stamp with Kiwi Kiss on Whisper White cardstock and punch with 1 1/4" circle. Stamp Chocolate Chip on Whisper White cardstock and cut out the flower design using papersnips. Layer these together and then make a fake double brad using Crystal Effects.

Circle Circus

Ok, so now I've posted a few projects using Trecdy Trees I thought I'd move in to show you a few projects using Circle Circus - another really flexible set.This card is one we made at convention using Circle Circus and a whole lot of colours - Tangerine Tango, So Saffron, Pacific Point, Bashful Blue and Kiwi Kiss It's not easy to use that many colours with no neutral tones and have it look so well co-ordinated, but the matching Kiwi Kiss ribbon ties it all together nicely!

I've also used this set for 12x12 layouts and a cute gift box so I'll post those projects over the next few days....

More Trendy Trees

As promised, here's another 'Trendy Trees" project. This is one we made at the SU! Convention in Canberra earlier this month. It's a super-cute little card that I've made a few times since as it's so flexible - just swap some colours and the greeting...voila! I love the leafy tree on this project as it uses the 'rock & roll' technique which is really effective. It's also carefully cut out and stuck on using a dimentional to give it a little height. Just one more project to come with this set, then I'll move on to another one for June. NB - I've made some changes to my class structure and dates - look to your right for details. It would be great to see you there so book in today!

This is a card we made at my last 'Fancy Fold' card class. I love this Trendy Trees set as it's really flexible and it's a bargain at $37.95. I'm also loving the "Urban Garden" Double sided paper as it's great for guys and girls - don't forget DSP is on special this month... 4 packs for the price of 3, which works out at just $1.25 a sheet. I used the 'rock & roll' technique for the central tree, then cut it out & used a dimentional to attatch it. I also love the colours - I've decided 'Basic Grey' is the new 'Chocolate Chip' and it goes so well with the new In Colours - Kiwi Kiss & Baja Breeze. The reason this is a Fancy Fold card is that it opens up as normal, but then you can open it up again from the centre to reveal space for a 'secret message'. This photo didn't work out so well but it might give you an idea of what I mean. Scrapping Classes

I actually made this project for my very first Class but have never posted it as I didn't ahve a blog back then! It's the first and last 6x6 page I've done in a class as I now have a 12x12 alnum to fill and am also addicted to mini-albums.

I've used the 'So Swirly' jumbo wheel and 'Priceless' set as well as 'Life Definitions' which I find great for scrapping. It's a 6x6 layout so I saved space by hiding my journaling in a pouch under the photo.

As soon as I got back from convention I realised that I had almost missed my cousin's and my uncle's brithdays, so I had to make some cards at top speed. Having been inspired by some great swaps and by Nicole Tidbold's presentation at convention (she had some fantastic ideas for male cards) I set off to make male cards.

I really wanted to use some DSP but only have 'Urban Garden'. I thought that might be a challange but it didn't turn out to be a problem as the colours and designs were really flexible. I roughed it up a bit by distressing the edges and I'm pretty happy with the way this card turned out. It's super easy and equally good for any age or gender, depending on the papers you choose.

Convention Update

Ok, admittedly I've been back from the SU! convention in Canberra for over a week, but I'm still catching up! I spent the week before convention making swaps so had no time to blog, then I spent the week after convention making plans, editing photos and creating projects for classes - where does ths time go?! Thankfully I just brought a wireless router so I can now sit in my WARM living room with my laptop, so hopefully I'll be online more often from now on and can blog to my heart's content....

Firstly, convention was fantastic. I've come home with heaps of ideas and things I despirately want to create and do (I'm thinking I need to give up work...). Nine ladies from my SU! team headed over the ditch and many of them have worked so hard over the last year that they were called up on stage to celebrate their success :-) The above photo is just one of many - Jacque and Patrice both made it into the top 3 NZ demonstrators of the year - woo hoo.

These were my convention swaps. I used an emboss resist technique for the stamped panel; first I used the 'So Swirly' wheel, then stamped with a bold image from Baroque Motifes and clear embossed it. Lastly I sponged over the top with a darker colour. Unfortunately you can't really see the full effect in these photos.I made 90 cards all together - the ones below are just one version! Although it did take quite some time to make them all it was all worth it as I swapped them all and now have 90 very creative samples.
